              Gaga Pit Stand

GaGa ball is a very active and fast-paced game that is played in a round or octagon "pit" called a Gaga ball pit. The objective of the game is to hit the ball at other players and knock them out by getting them below the knee.

There are several rules variations out there, but in general, here is a basic rule set for a game of Gaga:

              • Players start by standing inside the Gaga pit with one hand touching the pit wall.
              • The ball is thrown into the center of the pit. Players chant “Ga!” on the first bounce, “Ga!” on the second bounce, and “Go!” on the third bounce. The ball is now live, and any player can hit the ball.
              • Players hit the ball with their hands but cannot pick it up or throw it.
              • If a player is hit below the knee, that player is out. If a player is hit above the knee, they are still in, and play resumes.
              • If a fly ball is caught, the player who hit the ball is out.
              • If the ball is hit outside the pit, the last player to touch the ball is out.
              • Players may not hold the ball.
              • The last player standing wins that round.

The game started in Israel in the 1970s and has since spread around the world. It became popular in the US around 2012 and has exploded since then. We speak to customers everyday about gaga. Through those conversations, we have identified three main reasons why Gaga has become so popular:

              • Kids love to play it! We hear repeatedly from churches, schools, and camps that kids will play round after round after round when a game of Gaga gets going.
              • It’s an excellent game for a wide range of ages and skill levels.
              • Gaga pits are low cost but have high play value compared to other similar activities that could be added to a play area.

Choosing the Right Gaga Ball Pit Kit

The first thing to consider is what size Gaga pit you need. Our gaga pits range from 15’ across to 26’ across. As a general rule, a 15’ gaga pit can accommodate up to 15 kids, a 20’ can accommodate up to 20 kids, and a 26’ can accommodate up to 25 kids.

The next thing to think about is whether the gaga pit will be portable or permanent. Permanent gaga pits typically have a way to anchor the pit to the ground. Models like the In-ground Gaga Ball Pit come with spikes to anchor it into the ground. Other models like the Indoor and Outdoor Gaga Ball Pit don’t include any hardware to anchor but are capable of being anchored down to different surfaces like concrete or into the ground. Portable gaga pits are easy to setup, tear down, and store. Models to check out for this are Gaga2Go, Indoor and Outdoor Gaga Ball Pit, and Portable Gaga Ball Pit.

You may also consider if it will ever need to be installed indoors. We have a few models that are great for indoor installation, including Gaga2Go, Indoor and Outdoor Gaga Ball Pit, and Portable Gaga Ball Pit. These models are on the list for portability as well but they are also great for setting up in a large open room or gym.

What Surface to Put Your Gaga Ball Court On.

Gaga pits are most commonly installed on the ground or on concrete. However, installing on the ground can cause the grass to wear down inside the pit. One solution is to move the gaga pit around when the grass gets stressed. Another option is to use our Gaga Pit Rubber Flooring Kit to create a designated area for the gaga pit on a forgiving surface.
